Best iPaaS Platforms for AI Agents in 2026: Eleven Platforms Compared

Last verified: 30 August 2026 ยท Prem Patel, Nex Automations

The best iPaaS platform for AI agents in 2026 depends on one question first: do you need governed agents inside an enterprise procurement process, or working agents this month on a published price? For the first, Workato, Boomi, MuleSoft, Tray.ai and Celigo all now ship an agent builder, an MCP server and human approval steps, and all five are quote-only. For the second, n8n, Activepieces, Zapier and Make.com give you an agent node, MCP in both directions and a price on the page, from free to about $30 a month. Pipedream sits between the two as the developer's option, and Latenode is the cheapest metered entry with the thinnest documentation.

This page is a fact-checked catalog of eleven platforms on the criteria that decide agent work: agent builder, MCP server and client support, model choice, approval step, governance, memory, agent pricing, self-hosting and 2026 analyst placement. Every fact was checked against the vendor's own documentation, pricing page or release notes on 30 August 2026, and anything we could not confirm at source is marked as not published rather than guessed.

Last verified 30 August 2026. Product names, GA and beta status, pricing and analyst placements were re-checked on that date against vendor documentation, pricing pages, release notes and the vendors' own Gartner announcements. Where a vendor page is gated or JavaScript-rendered, the fact is marked as not confirmed. Re-check anything that decides a purchase; this market changes monthly.

What "iPaaS for AI agents" actually means in 2026

An integration platform becomes an agent platform when it can do five things: let an LLM decide which tool to call (an agent builder), expose its own connectors as tools to outside agents (an MCP server), call outside tools from inside a workflow (an MCP client), pause for a human before a risky action (an approval step), and show who called what (governance). By August 2026 every platform on this list does at least three of the five. The differences are in what is GA versus beta, whether the price is published, and whether you can run it on your own servers.

Two patterns decide most shortlists. The five enterprise vendors will not print a price, and the five SMB and developer tools will; that is the same qualification filter the iPaaS landscape documents, now applied to agents. And only three platforms let you run agents on your own infrastructure: MuleSoft with a paid Enterprise licence, Activepieces under MIT, n8n under its Sustainable Use License.

Frequently asked questions

Which iPaaS platform is best for AI agents in 2026?

There is no single answer, which is why this page is a decision table rather than a ranking. For governed enterprise agents, Workato, Boomi and MuleSoft are the 2026 Gartner Leaders with agent control planes. For agents on a published price this month, n8n, Make.com, Zapier and Activepieces. For self-hosted agents, n8n or Activepieces.

Which iPaaS platforms support MCP in 2026?

All eleven expose an MCP server in some form as of August 2026: Workato Enterprise MCP, Boomi's MCP Server connector (technology preview), MuleSoft MCP Connector and MCP Bridge, Tray.ai Agent Gateway, Celigo Enterprise MCP Server, Pipedream MCP, Latenode MCP Trigger, Activepieces MCP Server, Zapier MCP, Make MCP Server and n8n's MCP Server Trigger. Client-side MCP, where the workflow calls outside tools, is confirmed on Workato, Boomi, MuleSoft, Celigo, Activepieces, Make (beta) and n8n.

Which AI agent platform can I self-host?

Three of the eleven: n8n under its Sustainable Use License, Activepieces with an MIT-licensed core, and MuleSoft through Runtime Fabric on your own Kubernetes with a paid Enterprise licence. Boomi runs its runtime on-prem but keeps the control plane in its cloud. The rest offer at most an on-prem connectivity agent.

What does an AI agent cost to run on Zapier, Make or n8n?

Zapier meters agents in activities: 400 a month free, 1,500 on Pro from $33.33 a month annual, with each Zapier MCP tool call billed as two tasks. Make charges 1 credit per operation plus token credits on its own provider, or 1 credit per operation with your own key, with 1,000 free credits a month. n8n bills executions only, from EUR 20 a month annual for 2,500, and never bills model calls. All three figures are from the vendors' pricing pages on 30 August 2026.

Is Make.com's AI agent ready for production?

It is in open beta since 2 February 2026 with pricing that Make says may change, and its human-in-the-loop app is a closed Enterprise beta. We run it in production behind a fallback path for approved clients, with credit limits set and the MCP client scoped to specific scenarios. For a regulated workload, wait for GA or use the approval step on n8n or Zapier.

Do I need an iPaaS at all to run an AI agent?

Not if the agent only needs one or two tools and you have engineers. The platforms earn their place when the agent has to touch a CRM, an inbox, a database and a spreadsheet with retries, logging and an approval step, which is the part frameworks leave to you. The AI agent vs automation guide explains when an agent is the wrong shape entirely.
