Yelp lead response and follow-up automation
Yelp lead automation: every lead answered in minutes, compliantly, on Zapier
Nex Automations builds Yelp lead-response systems on Zapier as a listed Zapier Solution Partner: instant compliant first replies with human review where Yelp's rules require it, follow-up sequences, lead logging to your CRM or sheet and phone-availability handling. Yelp's official Zapier integration runs Yelp Leads triggers and actions as free tasks under Yelp's partner arrangement, so a well-built lead desk costs 1 to 3 Zapier tasks per lead to run. We built and run one for a US audio-visual events business, and we published the research behind it.
If this is your week, you are in the right place
- Leads arrive in the evening, you reply the next afternoon, and the job went to whoever replied first.
- The Yelp inbox, missed calls and quote requests live in three places and nobody owns follow-up.
- You pay Yelp for ads and then leak the leads it sends: our research on one real business found only 9% of consumers reply on-platform, follow-up is where the revenue is.
- You tried an auto-responder and worried about Yelp compliance, or it sounded like a robot and hurt more than it helped.
What you get, in the order it happens
- Lead-flow map: where Yelp leads, calls and messages actually arrive today and where each one dies.
- Zapier build on the official Yelp Leads integration: instant first reply drafted by AI, reviewed or auto-sent per your compliance choice, with wording variation and AI disclosure handled per Yelp Leads Program Agreement 5.d and 5.g.
- Follow-up sequences timed to real behaviour (median lead-to-event gap in our research: 19 days), plus mark-as-replied hygiene so your Yelp response metrics improve.
- Every lead logged to your CRM, sheet or Notion with source and status; missed-call and after-hours handling included.
- Documentation, a Loom walkthrough and an optional monthly retainer for monitoring and changes.

Questions buyers ask before they hire
Is automating Yelp lead replies allowed by Yelp?
Yelp's Leads Program Agreement discourages pure auto-responders: section 5.d expects varied wording and human review of AI replies, and 5.g requires disclosing AI use. That is why we build draft-then-approve flows by default, the automation writes and files everything, a human taps approve, and the disclosure is handled. It is also why generic auto-responder bots are a compliance risk we do not sell.
What does a Yelp lead automation cost to run?
Almost nothing. Yelp's official Zapier integration runs Yelp Leads triggers and actions as free tasks, and Zapier's built-in tools (Paths, Filters, Formatter, Tables) are free too. The only billed work is typically the AI step, 1 to 3 tasks per lead. The build is $500 to $1,200 for a single-location desk.
Why does response speed matter so much on Yelp?
The first responder usually wins the job. In our published research, 53% of Los Angeles event businesses took over an hour to reply, and on one real business we studied, the owner answered 11 of 23 leads within 30 minutes but 8 of 23 took 13 to 25 hours. Those slow eight are the revenue an automated desk recovers.
Can this handle more than Yelp?
Yes, and it usually should. The multi-channel desk pulls Yelp, website forms, missed calls and Google or Facebook leads into one pipeline with one status view, so follow-up stops depending on which inbox the lead happened to arrive in. Yelp acquired Hatch in 2026, so multi-channel is where the platform itself is heading.
Do you use AI agents for this?
Where they earn their place. Our shipped build uses an AI agent to draft contextual replies and triage intent, with one-click human takeover for anything sensitive. The agent never sends unreviewed replies unless you explicitly choose auto-send with disclosure.
